Marilyn’s Smile

Marilyn in. pink

Over fifty years ago I made this sketch, almost certainly from a photographic reference which has long disappeared from sight. The drawing has somehow survived all those years and I’ve now made a high resolution scan, cleaned it up a little (leaving some evidence of its journey) and turned it into a poster.

She died in 1962, but was such an icon that even six or seven years later her image was still capturing the imagination of an art student. Maybe Andy Warhol had something to do with that.
